Benson Signs decided to commission Eco Environments to install a 9.68kW solar PV system to it’s 45,000 sq ft factory in Great Howard Street. The system was made up of 45 Sungrid panels and three SMA Sunny Boy 3000 inverters which was added to a system which was previously installed making the total output 25kW. Sungrid panels were chosen for their superior build quality and high performance levels for their cost. They are also the market leader for their warranties with a 10 year product and 25 year performance warranty.

We have estimated that Benson Signs’ additional 9.675kWp system will produce around 7971kWh of electricity per year which will earn them £3,013.03 per year in Feed-in Tariff payments. They will also save around £675.94 per year by generating their own electricity and earn around £49 per year by exporting any excess power generated. This will give them a total income/saving of £3,738.40 which is index linked, giving a 23.1% return on investment* annually and a payback time for the system of around 7 years. Benson Signs’ system will also save approximately 4336kg of CO2 per year.
