Communiversity decided to go green as part of a concerted environmental campaign. They approached Eco Environments to install a Proven 11 wind turbine with an out put of 6kWp on their 105 Acre Larkin’s Farm. The project was supported by Liverpool City Council and Foundation North West through the Liverpool Community Renewable Energy Fund.

The project also received the support of planners at Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council because the farm straddles the Knowsley-Liverpool boundary with the turbine sitting on Knowsley land. We have estimated that Communiversity’s Proven 11 wind turbine will produce around 9,000kWh of electricity per year which will earn them £2,526.34 per year in Feed-in Tariff payments. They will also save around £1,080 per year by generating their own electricity. This will give them a total income/saving of £3,607 which is index linked. Communiversity’s system will also save approximately five tonnes of CO2 per year.
