Mr and Mrs Aston decided to have solar panels installed for a mixture of financial and eco-friendly reasons. They were very impressed with our staff commenting that our business development manager was straight talking and professional and our engineers who fitted the panels were good at their job. “We met and discussed solar PV with 8 companies before selecting Eco Environments. Eco Environments were professional, not pushy, explained everything well and competitively priced. Installation done exactly as we asked and left clean and tidy.”
They had a 3.87kWp SunGrid system installed on a West facing roof. South facing roofs are ideal for solar PV but East/ West still give a good return on investment. We estimated the system, made up of 18 solar panels would generate 2,560kWh per year.
When the system was installed in 2010 we predicted that it would save £247 on electricity bills per year, with an annual return on investment of 15%* which is index linked over the life time of the Feed in Tariff and a 9 year payback period. The system will also save 1,330kg of CO2 each year.
Mr Ashton’s advice to people who are considering having solar PV installed is: “I did a lot of research after meeting first company as they were rubbish, they knew nothing and I was convinced they were technically wrong on several counts. Make sure they are all quoting panel output from the standard figures, several tried to use significantly enhanced figures to make their installation look better. Get a copy of the REAL Code of Practice and remind them to stick to it! Beware of cowboys!”
