After having quotes from various solar panel companies, Mr Cooke decided to go ahead with Eco Environments as they were the most knowledgeable and offered a competitive price.
Mr Cooke decided to install a 3.87kW solar PV system, made up of 18 panels and a SMA Sunny Boy 3300 inverter. It was decided to keep the system to 3.87kW in order to maximise energy generation and the 43.3 pence per kilowatt of electricity generated through Feed-in Tariff payments under the 4kW limit.
We estimated that the system at Ivy Kennels 3.87Wp system will produce around 2,931kWh of electricity per year which will earn them £1,269.12 per year in Feed-in Tariff payments. They will also save around £298.26 per year by generating their own electricity, using 80% of its self generated electricity, and exporting 20% and an electricity price of 12p kWh (the actual amounts that you pay & export can vary). They will also earn around £17.59 per year by exporting any excess power generated. This will give them a total income/saving of £1,584.97 which is index linked giving a 17.16% average return on investment* annually over 25 years and a payback time for the system of around 7 years. The system will also save approximately 1,594.46kg of CO2 per year.
