A project by Extreme Low Energy (ELe) to showcase affordable housing Hub, Eco Environments were asked to be involved by ELe due to their knowledge of Direct Current (DC) wiring solutions. Their engineers installed a 4 panel Solar PV system on the roof. The panels were then wired in such a way to produce the optimum amount of energy so that the energy could charge the housing units battery and power domestic services, all of which were wired in DC cabling infrastructure. Typically the wiring in these solutions are power over Ethernet which reduces the typical risks involved in DC electrical installations.
